Emergency crews responded after a car crashed into the school district’s transportation building on Monday.
Metro Fire and and Portage Co. Ambulance were on scene moments after the vehicle crashed into the district’s support services building shortly after 5 PM. Ambulance crews and Johnson’s Towing were also on the Water Street scene.
According to Capt. Charles Skibba from SPFD, no one was inside the building, and the driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Skibba said the driver was “alert and talking” after he was extricated from his vehicle, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The driver’s condition is not currently known.
The crash resulted in damage to the exterior of the building, as knocked out the district’s Internet and telephone lines.
More as we have it.
