Raymond “Ray” Pozorski, age 86 of Stevens Point, died Tuesday April 14, 2015 surrounded by his family at Ministry St. Michaels Hospital in Stevens Point.
Ray was born March 11, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI. He is the son of the late John & Josephine (Kieliszewski) Pozorski. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1947.
He entered the U.S. Army Feb. 20, 1951 in Milwaukee. He served as a radio operator with the Fifth Army 2nd Armored division. He was honorably discharged Dec. 30, 1952 at Fort Custer, MI.
Ray married Dolores Yulga on June 16, 1956 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, she survives.
He worked for the Copps Corporation as a truck driver for 42 years, retiring in 1992. After retirement Ray worked part time at Scaffidi Motors for many years. Ray was an Usher and member of the St. Joseph Holy Name Society and had served as Vice President. He also was a member of the Stevens Point Elks Lodge #641 and the American Legion Post 6.
He was an avid local sports supporter, enjoyed going to church picnics in the summer and especially enjoyed spending time with his family & grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife Dolores and their three children: Ann (Martin) Zblewski of the Town of Hull, Karen Sroda (Randy Horkheimer) of Stevens Point and Mark (Lisa) Pozorski of Burnsville, MN. Six grandchildren: Ashley, Jacob, Ryan, Austin, Ruby & Sawyer. One brother: Marvin (Edith) Pozorski of Stevens Point and one sister: Marilyn (Leonard) Hintz of Stevens Point.
He was preceded in death by his sister Arlene Lee & Brother Kenneth. In Lieu of flowers a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.
Funeral Mass 11:00 AM Saturday April 18, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stevens Point. Rev. Jerzy Rebacz will officiate. Burial will take place in the Guardian Angel cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of services Saturday morning at the Church.
