Plover Police Chief Dan Ault has released the identity of a body was recovered from Lake Pacawa on Friday afternoon.
Police have identified the victim as Betty Frost, 56, of Plover. Ault said the family had been notified.
The investigation is still in the early stages, he said, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. A car belonging to Frost was towed from the scene on Friday.
“I can absolutely confirm there’s no threat to the public; we don’t know if there’s foul play involved or not, but there’s no reason for the public to feel they are in danger,” Ault added.
Ault said there was no report of Frost having gone missing, but did say her body appeared to have been “in the water for a period of time”. She had been discovered by passersby who called police about 5:20 PM.
Plover Police were assisted by the Portage County Coroner and Sheriff’s Office, as well as Plover Fire and Rescue responded.
