For the City Times
Work to reconstruct the WIS 54/Maple Drive intersection in Plover is currently scheduled to begin as early as April 27.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is conducting a construction information meeting to discuss the contractor’s schedule and traffic impacts for the project. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, from 5:30 to 7 PM, at the Village of Plover Municipality Center, 2400 Post Road, Plover. WisDOT staff will also present information on how to drive roundabouts.
The WIS 54/Maple Drive intersection requires geometric changes to improve safety. Crews will reconstruct the intersection as a single lane roundabout. Sidewalks will be extended north from the roundabout to connect with sidewalks at the WIS 54/Portage County B/Business 51 intersection.
During construction, WIS 54 and Maple Drive will be closed at the intersection. WIS 54 traffic will be detoured via I-39 and Portage County B. Construction is scheduled for completion in early September 2015.
Adjacent property owners and residents are encouraged to attend the April 22 meeting. Citizens who are hearing-impaired and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Kristin McHugh at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay System (711).
This project will be paid with a combination of federal, state, and local transportation funds.
