The SPASH tennis team swept through Saturday’s Tennis Invitational, taking the top team spot in six of seven events in amassing 39 team points with Marshfield finishing second with 24 points.
The Panthers earned wins in Number 1, 2, 3 & 4 singles’ events and also topped Number 1 and 2 doubles’ competition in winning their hosted event.
“Despite the windy weather, we had a great day of tennis and good sportsmanship,” said SPASH tennis coach Gary Baier, as players prepared on the outdoor courts at SPASH and Goerke Field. “We had teams from LaCrosse Logan, Marshfield, Pacelli, Rhinelander, Tomah, Wisconsin Rapids and our SPASH team.”
SPASH senior and #1 singles player Blaine Bancker edged Marshfield’s Bryce Gadke, 6-1 and 6-2 in #1 Singles play with fellow senior Jon Peck defeating Marshfield’s Jacob Limmex in #2 Singles and senior Skyler Colegrove downing the TIger’s John Weisenberger, 6-1, 6-2 in the #3 singles.
In #1 Doubles, SPASH’s Trenton Seegert and Noah Meier downed Pacelli’s Luke Yenter and Pat Rath, 6-0, 6-2. The #2 Doubles competition saw more SPASH domination as M.J.
