A large portion of the former Copps parking lot on Church St. has been fenced off in preparation for construction of a new location of Kwik Trip.
The 24-hour convenience store and car wash plans to break ground this spring on its newest location, which was approved by the city in January.
The company has constructed three new stores locally since 2012, with another location on Plover Road in Plover also in early stages of construction.
The Copps building itself has been vacant since the grocery store relocated east Stevens Point. Owner Steve Winter said he has successfully sold similar large buildings before, but after two and a half years on the market, he’s had no success unloading the former Copps property.
