A new retail center for Crossroads Commons was unanimously approved by the Village of Plover Plan Commission on Monday night, moving forward new construction in the continually expanding shopping area.
The general site plan had been approved simultaneously with that of Panda Express last year. CFT Development, which owns the restaurant property, also plans to bring in more shopping destinations to the space.
“My assumption is that the construction will probably start before too long,” said Holden. No building permits have been issued and the total cost of building was not immediately known.
The building will be constructed directly east of the Panda Express and contain 6 retail spaces ranging from 1,200 to 2,400 square feet. Holden said he is unaware of what businesses may go in to the new storefronts.
“We’re confident they (developers) must have at least a couple of people or they probably wouldn’t have gone ahead,” said Village President Tom Davies. “It’s exciting to see who they come up with.”
“They probably have at least two of the areas secured before they start construction. That’s pretty typical,” said Holden.
Currently under construction at Crossroads Commons is a new Goodwill store although no completion date has been set, as well as a new apartment complex, Heritage Farms.
The Plover Village Board is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, May 6 at 6:00 PM.
