Suppz, a Wisconsin-based nutrition and exercise supplement retailer, is set to open their Stevens Point location on May 6.
Suppz, originally coined Supplement City, began as an online retailer of supplements seven years ago and established a large international customer base. Today, it has store fronts in Lacrosse, Eau Claire- and now Stevens Point.
“We’re one of few companies that will ship overseas,” said Peters. “Our biggest area is Brazil- once one of them finds something, they tell all their friends about it. Some guy happened to stumble across it and it took off.”
Peters said that all Suppz’ staff members are knowledgeable of their products and can help novice supplement users and those more experienced.
“Ninety percent of our customer base that comes in, they don’t know supplements,” said Peters. “That’s what we’re here for. We’re here to teach them, be honest with them.”
“If you go into GNC, 99 percent of the time it’s a high school kid that likes to work out,” said Peters. “Ours are guys that are going to school for health and wellness, are personal trainers. I have a guy who works for me who’s a dietitian. I have a girl on staff who’s a world record- holding power lifter. I also have a girl who just had her third kid. We have viewpoints coming form all across the board.”
Suppz will be selling national brand sport supplements, vitamins and minerals and health foods.
A grand opening is planned for the fall when Peters said they will book an athlete appearance. Previous stores have seen appearances by four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler, body builder Kevin Jordan and Greg Jennings of the Green Bay Packers.
Suppz will be open from 10 AM to 7 PM Monday-Friday and 10 AM to 6 PM on weekends. The business is located at 29 Park Ridge Drive in Stevens Point.
