Both games were close when the SPASH Panthers baseball team took on the Ashwaubenon Jaguars. The teams split their doubleheader as SPASH won the first game 7-6 and lost the second game 4-2.
Noel Winch was SPASH’s anchor on the mound in game one. He went six innings, struck out five and walked one. He was responsible for all of Ashwaubenon’s runs.
SPASH used a three run fourth and a three run sixth to establish a lead and held on in the seventh when the Jaguars put up three but were unable to complete the comeback.
SPASH’s leading hitters were Andrew Ruzek, who went 3-4, Ted Kearney who finished 2-4 and Jacob Ligenza who roped a double in the game.
In game two the Panthers were on the other end of a big inning when the Jaguars scored all four of their runs in the third.
Alex Lee picked up the loss for the Panthers but Trevor Anderson, Austin Reed and Joe Strigel all took the mound for SPASH.
Ashwaubenon also put three pitchers on the mound.
After today’s games the Panthers sit 16-6 on the year and 10-0 in the Valley.
