An Amherst couple is facing drug charges after a May 16 traffic stop when deputies discovered 27 grams of marijuana inside a KFC bag in their vehicle.
Deputies pulled over Jesus Solis, 40, and his fiance Porfiria Valcq, also 40, for a traffic violation around 5:30 PM. The deputy’s K-9 detected the presence of drugs and the vehicle was searched.
Deputies found the marjiuana inside a fast food bag that had been sitting in Valcq’s lap.
The couple were arrested and taken to the Portage County Jail.
Valcq will be charged with possession of THC (2nd offense) as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, Solis with possession of THC and drug paraphernalia.
Assistant District Attorney Cass Cousins requested a cash bond for Valcq, due to her prior criminal history for delivery and manufacture of drugs as well as past felony bail jumping charges.
Judge John Finn ordered a $500 signature bond for Valcq and a $1000 signature bond for Solis. Both are forbidden from possessing paraphernalia or associating with persons using illegal substances.
The couple have separate future court dates. Valcq is due back in court on May 26 and Solis on June 1.
