An Iowa man charged in a local 2012 beating and armed robbery appeared in a Portage County courtroom this week.
Christopher Green, 33, has been charged with three counts of felony armed robbery with the use of force, two counts of substantial battery, one count of misdemeanor battery and one count of burglary with a dangerous weapon.
According to the criminal complaint, Green and two other suspects broke into the Union St. home while the occupants held a small after-hours gathering after a night out. The intruders took cash and cell phones, beating the male occupants with a fireplace poker before fleeing the scene.
Detectives from SPPD found Green based on interviews with witnesses of the March, 2012 incident. Green was later extradited from Iowa and placed in custody at the Portage County Jail, where he remains today on a $50,000 cash bond.
One of the victims sustained a head wound that required 25 staples to close and a second was knocked unconscious.
Green and two other suspects were identified by female party guests. Green returns to court on June 15.
