A Stevens Point man has been charged with a 4th OWI after he was stopped for speeding on a motorcycle on West Clark Street in the early hours of May 23.
A Wisconsin State Trooper initially pulled over Peter Boris, 31, for driving 46 mph in a 25 mph zone. Boris told the trooper he did not have a driver’s license but did produce a state-issued ID.
According to the criminal complaint, the trooper noticed Boris stumble as he removed his helmet and stepped off he motorcycle. The trooper also noticed the smell of alcohol, and when asked if he had been drinking, Boris stated he had consumed two 12 oz. bottles of beer.
A field test indicated Boris had a blood alcohol content of .223. Boris was arrested for OWI and booked into the Portage County Jail.
Boris pleaded not guilty before Judge Thomas Flugaur on Monday. He has previous OWI convictions in 2008, 2009 and 2011.
Boris is free on a $500 cash bond and is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on June 29.
