Officials from CN Railway have announced they plan to close the train crossing on Country Club Drive/Hoover Road during the week of June 8.
The roadway is a main artery between Stevens Point’s east side and the city’s industrial park, as well as a direct thoroughfare to Plover. Motorists will need to find an alternate route next week.
The closure was announced via two large electronic signs at either side of the crossing last week.
Scott Schatschneider, the Stevens Point public works director, said the closure is not related to the upcoming overpass project along that roadway, but just “normal maintenance” conducted by railroad crews.
