The Lady Cardinals are headed to state.
The Pacelli Cardinals Girls’ Softball team is headed to state after defeating Three Lakes by the final score of 2-0 on Thursday afternoon in the WIAA Division 4 sectional final in Athens.
The Cardinals got yet another impressive pitching performance from Kaylee Krostag, who threw all seven innings and allowed just two hits while striking out five.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals were able to pound out six hits and pushed across the game’s only two runs in the fourth inning.
Chrissy Shafranski led the Cardinals on offense by going 2-3 at the plate. She also drove in one run. Paige Hintz drove in a Pacelli run as she connected for a double.
“The girls were really focused tonight,” said Pacelli coach Ann Molski. “Our defense was stellar tonight allowing Kaylee to work her magic. She was able to change speeds and hit her spots allowing just two hits. They all had each other’s back today.”
Pacelli will take on McDonell Central in the state semifinal game slated for 11 AM on Friday, June 12 at Goodman Diamond in Madison.
