Former Village of Plover Police Chief Dwayne Wierzba has been named the Plover Area Business Association (PABA) 2015 Citizen of the Year.
Wierzba was recognized at the June 18 PABA Annual Dinner, held at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Convention Center in Stevens Point.
The group honored Wierzba for nearly 30 years of service to the village. According to a news releases from PABA, Wierzba served in “various leadership and support roles served over his career”, which included his role as police chief between 2006 and 2015.
Wierzba also served in the United States Navy Reserve in four command positions- including two mobilizations- one at a forward operating base in northeastern Iraq in 2005 and 2006.
The award was presented to Wierzba by Senator Julie Lassa and State Representative Katrina Shankland.
The Plover Area Business Association consists of over 150 area business members, whose alliance as a local chamber of commerce is dedicated to foster and advance the business and community interests throughout the greater Plover area.
