City leaders on Monday will hold a public hearing on a proposal to vacate the Prais Street pedestrian mall in front of Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital.
Mayor Mike Wiza said the hospital already maintains the property but needs assurances the city will not make future changes to the city-owned street. The move will make Ministry the official owner of the space and allow for construction of a new cancer center.
The City Council is expected to approve the resolution. City officials say they’ve heard no complaints from residents in the area.
The new cancer center is expected to break ground this fall.
The public hearing will take place at Monday’s Common Council meeting, beginning at 7 PM at the courthouse. The public is encouraged to attend.
