A group of 44 area residents participated in field training day during a hunter education class sponsored by the Bill Cook Chapter of the Izaak Walton League.
The league, which has its clubhouse and grounds past the Stevens Point Airport off Highway 66, also sponsors 3-D archery shoots through August on Wednesday nights. Those events are open to the public and family-friendly.
Mayor Mike Wiza, along with wife Chris, were among about a dozen volunteers teaching and assisting the students, who ranged in age from 8 to mid-40s.
Wiza is seen in the photo above showing Plover resident Dana Moodie, 8, proper firearm positions. Moodie was joined in the class by her entire family, including her parents Jodi and Todd and two older brothers.
The club will hold an adults-only hunter safety class in the near future. Check back for updates.
