A Wisconsin Rapids woman being held in the Portage County Jail on other charges is accused of smuggling heroin into the jail’s Huber block on July 7.
Tiffany Bell, 24, was witnessed by another inmate and captured on video entering the shower area of the jail and removing a small baggie from a body cavity.
According to the criminal complaint, she then emptied the baggie into the sink and tossed it in the garbage.
Corrections officers retrieved the baggie, which later tested positive for heroin. Bell admitted to a Portage County detective she had heroin hidden on her person when she entered the jail, and she later removed it and tried to dispose of it in the shower area.
Bell made an initial appearance via video in a Portage County Court on Monday, charged with possession of a narcotic, a class I felony. She was issued a $1,000 signature bond but remains in the Portage County Jail on unrelated drug charges.
She is due back in court on August 3.
