City Attorney Andrew Beveridge (left) and City Plan Commissioner Gary Curless (right, facing away from camera), prepare to ride bicycles home after Monday’s Plan Commission meeting.
The Commission had just finished an informal discussion on the Portage County Bicycle/Pedestrian Plan, a joint effort to create a county-wide, connected network of bicycle and pedestrian trails. The plan includes improving existing pathways, constructing new connections and building or improving water fountains and restroom facilities along the trail.
Officials from the city and county, as well as outer-laying municipalities, law enforcement and citizens from throughout the county have all had a voice in the plan.
The plan is expected to be complete within the next several months, at which point it’s expected to be adopted by both city and county governments.
