The 40th annual YMCA Frostbite Road Race and Winter Walk is set for December 5.
The annual race is presented by the Community First Bank, offering runners a unique experience in the off-season, camaraderie, good health and to
help support the YMCA’s youth programs. The race begins at noon.
Registration is $20 for an individual or $18 per person for families of three runners or more. The registration fee includes a souvenir t-shirt and access to locker room facilities at the YMCA. Runners must be registered by November 30 to guarantee receiving a t-shirt. A $15 late fee will be assessed on those who register on or after December 1.
The race is run on a 5- or 10-mile course, which has traveled the same route for the past six years. Runners begin at the YMCA and run along 4th St., 2nd St., Bukolt Ave., Old Wausau Rd., Lakeview Dr., Front St. and Franklin St. The routes are identical except for the turnaround points.
Awards will be presented to the top three winners in each division. Refreshments will be available following the race in the YMCA’s all purpose room.
Partial closure of 4th and 2nd streets was approved by the Stevens Point Public Protection Committee on November 9.
The Stevens Point Police Department said they have no concerns about the street closures or event.
