The Red Mill Supper Club will soon carve its last slice of prime rib.
The Red Mill, a popular spot for dates, dinner and holidays, has announced it will soon close its doors after 14 years in business. Owner Don Thompson said he and his wife Melissa are looking to move on and cited an oversaturation of restaurants in Stevens Point, the rerouting of Hwy. 10 away from the Red Mill and simply being burnt out as reasons for the close.
“We’re looking at changing our careers and doing something different,” said Thompson. “We feel it’s time to move on and try some different things and hopefully something that’s a little less stressful.”
The Red Mill opened in 2001 and became well known for offering its prime rib every day of the week instead of just as a Saturday special.
The restaurant will continue to fully operate until no later than March 1. Patrons can still book their holiday parties and Valentine’s day reservations.
“I don’t want people to think the door’s closed right now,” said Thompson. “We’re still open for business.”
Existing gift cards will be accepted until January 31 though no new cards will be sold. The Chef Showdown previously scheduled for 12/6/15 is cancelled.
Thompson said he is currently looking for management work in the foodservice industry.
“I’m just scouting right now,” he said.
The restaurant is currently up for sale. For more information on how you can purchase the Red Mill Supper Club, contact Phil Marvets of Sunbelt Business Brokers at 612-843-0082.
