Public invited to join PoDS at upcoming informational meeting, Slice Day or open house
City Times Staff
Ask students at Point of Discovery School how the school year is going, and you’ll hear tales of learning expeditions, celebrations of learning, habits of success and stem scouts.
The public charter school opened its doors to 50 sixth and seventh graders last fall, and is currently accepting applications for new students to expand for the 2016-17 school year.
The school teaches students through the EL (expeditionary learning) model, which engages students in long-term studies of compelling topics and themes. Students are engaged in creating original, authentic projects designed to improve their community.
Point of Discovery School (PoDS) invites families with incoming sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students to attend an upcoming informational meeting, Slice Day or open house to learn more about the school.
Applications for incoming students will be accepted through March 17.
Informational meetings will take place on Jan. 19, Feb. 11 and March 1 at 6 PM and 7:30 PM. Two open house events will be held, on Feb. 3 and 4 from 8 AM and 11:45 AM.
Slice days will take place on Jan. 25, Feb. 13, and March 7 from 8 AM through 4 PM, and pre-registration is required.
All events will take place at the school, 1900 West Zinda Drive.
