Metro Fire crews were called out Sunday afternoon to respond to a house fire on the corner of Main St. and Illinois Avenue.
Damage to the home’s roof was visible from the road, and the roadway was been blocked off in all four directions by Stevens Point police and crews from the streets department.
No injuries were reported, and Stevens Point Fire Lt. Armando Ramon said all residents from the home were accounted for.
“We did get a city bus from the [transit] garage for warming purposes,” Ramon said.
Armando added the cold temperatures have been “hampering some of our equipment”. Sunday’s afternoon temperature was six below zero.
Along with Stevens Point, crews from Plover, Hull and Park Ridge responded, Ramon said. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Sunday’s fire marks the second in a week for the neighborhood, with another fire causing major damage to a home on the 1700 block of Main St. Friday.
Crews were still on the scene at 1:30 PM Sunday. Ramon said additional information would be available when crews completed their on-scene work and returned to the station.
