To The Editor-
Portage County is having an important primary February 16. We will be selecting two candidates to compete in the April election to serve us as Circuit Court Judge.
I am supporting Trish Baker for judge for many reasons. Her professional credentials are impressive: an Assistant District Attorney, a Special Prosecutor, a private practice attorney with criminal and civil experience, family law and now as Portage County Clerk of Courts, she is the chief administrator of Portage County’s court system. All of these experiences are what makes her the most competent candidate for judge. These are the professional qualifications that make her the best choice.
I am supporting her because she is a good person in the community in addition to her professional life. She ran for school board when it was not an easy thing to do. She stayed the course through budget cuts, community concerns and division on the board and assumed a leadership role helping the organization to move forward to a more productive body. She is also a trustee for the Village of Park Ridge. She understands and works well with these organizations.
As a community volunteer, Trish serves as president of the Rotary Club of Greater Portage County, a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin, volunteers with the United Way Investment Team, and is an officer in the GFWC Stevens Point Woman’s Club.
Her family life is equally rich. One son is a graduate of West Point and another son, who is a college graduate, recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy. She is partnered with a very supportive husband.
All of this and the fact that she is a very good friend makes me proud to know her and to work on her team, making sure she is our next elected judge.
