Ramona (Mona) Platta, formerly of Custer, died Wednesday February 17, 2016, at Atrium Senior Living (Riverview Lodge) in Stevens Point. Mona was born on November 16, 1927, in the town of Stockton. She was the daughter of the late Felix & Rose (Armatoski) Klosinski
Her marriage to John Platta took place on May 3, 1947 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church Custer.
Mona attended Harper Grade School, Graduated from P. J. Jacobs High School 1944. She also attended Central State Teachers College (two years), now UWSP.
She was employed at Sentry Insurance in the Accounting Department for seven years. Then she was employed by UWSP dining service as assistant manager at DeBot Center for forty seven years retiring in 2009. Mona loved her job at UWSP food service and therefore didn’t retire until the age of 81.
Mona & John actively farmed for 37 years. John preceded her in death on March 13, 2009.
Mona was a lifetime member of Saint Mary’s Church in Custer and a member of the Altar Society. Mona was also very active in various church functions until her health became an issue. She did volunteer work and service for the Church and it was an integral part of her life.
Charter member of Saint Anne’s Catholic Order of Foresters of Polonia. Past member of Arnott Lions Club and the Lake DuBay Lions Club
She is survived by her beloved children; Michael (Vi) Platta, Scottsdale Az., Sandra (Dr. Mike) Curtis, Mosinee, Patrick (Jill) Platta, Amherst Junction, Mary (Joe) Shepherd, Custer, Rose Meyer, Custer, Judy (Cam) Lundquist, Stevens Point and Geralyn (Larry) Hoerter Stevens Point.
Fourteen grandchildren; Andy & Jacque Platta, Todd (Mary) Smolen, Katherine (Dan) Meister, Kimberly (Ben) Beaudoin, Patrick Platta, Kellen (Madison) Ferkey, Cory & Travis Shepherd, Jason & Jamie Walkush, Caitlin Lundquist, Kerstin (Scott) Vest, and Lindsey (Jake) Gotta.
Great-grandchildren; Jamie and Elizabeth Smolen, Olivia Ramona and Isabel Meister, Amara, Wyatt and Ramsey Beaudoin, Ashlee and Brent Platta, Adyen and Ava Vest and twin baby boys to arrive in April. Seven step grandchildren. Also survived by a sister-in-law Ruth Klosinski.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Agnes Pliska, and Bernive Kjer, and brothers, Chester and Richard Klosinski.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday February 20, 2016, at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Custer. Rev. Daniel Hackel will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery. Visitation on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home 2911 Plover Road Plover and again on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Bible Vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials will be established at a later date.
