Robert DeMuth (Bob), age 75, passed away on March 5, 2016 in Stevens Point, WI.
Bob was born in Sheboygan, WI on February 1, 1941 to Norma (Hinze) DeMuth and Robert DeMuth.
When he was young, the Hinze family moved to Milwaukee where Bob graduated from Juneau High School in 1959. In 1964 he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, WI. After completing his graduate work in 1966 at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL, Bob went on to work at UW-Whitewater in the School of Communication for three years. He spent the rest of his working years at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) as a consultant for teacher licensing and teacher education programs in WI.
In August, 1965 Bob married Susan Imig of Waukesha, WI. In 1967 the couple welcomed their first child, William, while in DeKalb, IL. In 1968 the couple moved to Fort Atkinson, WI where they welcomed their second child, Sondra, in 1973. In 1977 the family moved to Sun Prairie, WI, where they remained for 22 years before Bob and Susan moved to Stevens Point, WI in 2001.
While in Sun Prairie, Bob was active in the United Church of Christ in Windsor, WI, was an avid golfer and was a parent volunteer with Susan for the Sound of Sun Prairie Marching Band. After moving to Stevens Point, Bob became active in the local community through Operation Bootstrap and as an active member with Frame Memorial Presbyterian Church. Bob also participated in a men’s golf league and was a frequent visitor to the public library. If the weather in central WI was fair, you’d find him on the golf course.
A talented poet, writer and thespian, Bob wrote 4 musical scripts for the Palm Resaca Park Players in Brownsville, TX, where they spent their winters. Bob would often write poems to celebrate birthdays, retirements and even the weddings of his children.
Bob is survived by his wife, Susan; his son Bill DeMuth (Rachel) of Louisville, KY; his daughter Sondra Reynolds (Jon) and two grandchildren, Isabel & Alex Reynolds of Stevens Point, WI; his sister, Susan (DeMuth) McKenzie of Streetsboro, OH; sisters-in-law Linda Imig and Beth Lawson of Waukesha, WI. His quick wit and enthusiasm made him well-loved by cousins, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law Mike McKenzie and William Lawson.
