To the Editor-
I am writing to the Portage County voters today to give them a glimpse into the personal side of their current Branch 2 Circuit Court judge, Bob Shannon. See, I am the lucky gal who has been happily married to him for nearly 28 years.
We were married while Bob was still at Marquette University Law School. After graduation, Bob and I moved to his beloved community of Stevens Point where we bought our first home and settled in as a newlywed, professional couple. It was obvious to me why Bob loved Stevens Point and Portage County so much and why he wanted to return home. He had lifelong, trusted, and faithful friendships here. His loving and supportive parents, Jack and Jo Shannon, lived here. He could enjoy the beautiful natural environment and a favorite pastime of trout fishing on the Plover and Tomorrow Rivers. UWSP (‘85) and all of its offerings were at his doorstep. He relished being home again and around our strong Polish and Catholic cultures. It didn’t take much time for Stevens Point to become a Wausau girl’s home too.
If given three words to describe my husband, I would choose loyalty, intelligence and empathy. Bob is fiercely loyal to his family, his friends, his co-workers, his community and his ideals. Bob is highly intelligent, an exceptionally skilled attorney, and an excellent writer. Bob is an avid reader, with a particular love of history, and is always on a quest to learn new things. Finally, Bob has a caring and compassionate heart. He has empathy for people who find themselves in difficult situations, especially our most vulnerable.
Your constitutional right to vote is before you on Tuesday, April 5th. It is my opinion that Judge Shannon stands out as the most qualified candidate for Circuit Court Judge. He is a trusted and respected attorney, he has broad legal experience, and proven judicial experience.
I know he will work hard every single day for the people of Portage County because I am a witness to and a recipient of his dedicated work ethic. Join me, by voting to keep Judge Shannon on the bench.
Ann Dudley Shannon
