To the Editor-
On April 5th there is an election. I am asking citizens to please show up and vote.
I am writing to express my support for one of those candidates and positions. I have already voted by absentee ballot for Trish Baker. She is running for Portage County Circuit Judge. I have known Trish while serving on the board of education with her. She is one of our most dedicated members with a great work ethic.
I have learned many things about the court system from Trish; what works and what could work a lot better and mostly what isn’t working and why. As our elected clerk of the circuit court, she is the only candidate with extensive criminal law experience. She also worked as an assistant district attorney, special prosecutor and defense attorney. Please go to her website and check out her amazing legal experience and note that she has represented the State of Wisconsin in numerous jury and court trials.
As an officer of the court and as a lawyer she absolutely knows the law and knows exactly what a judge must do in that role. It is more than that. In schools we talk about the number of students. Those students aren’t numbers, they are people. In the court system people and their lives and futures are at stake every day. Trish knows and deals with that every day and is a great people person. She is truly concerned that every single citizen has their day in court is treated fairly but always following the law by being fair and firm.
Please choose Trish for our judge. Trish will make sure that all facts are considered in every case. She will also do everything she can to help us have a court system that works for everyone.
