Plover’s VFW Post 10262 is hosting the 2016 Vietnam Veterans Day on April 2.
The day is part celebration, part memorial, held to recognize American troops who served during the Vietnam War.
Doors open at 2 PM, and the ceremony honoring veterans begins at 3 PM. Dinner will be served at 4 PM, followed by music and dancing at 5 PM.
The event will also feature music by the SPASH Strings Players, who will play the “Armed Forces Medley” — which recognizes each branch of service — among other tunes.
The Stevens Point Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be on hand to distribute 50th Anniversary Commemorative Vietnam War Veteran lapel pins.
Any Vietnam veteran who wishes to attend is invited to bring a photo of him or herself taken while in service for a photo display. Photos can be dropped off at the post, 2970 Hickory Drive, prior to the event with the veteran’s name and contact info.
Photos can also be turned in at the time of the event. Copies are preferred – please designate if the photo is an original so it can be returned.
All veterans and their family members are invited. There is no charge for admission.
