To the Editor-
I write in support of Trish Baker’s candidacy for Circuit Court Judge.
Portage County has the choice between two fine attorneys. Both appear to be persons of character and integrity. But I believe the varied experience of Trish Baker makes her the superior choice for this important position.
I am in a unique position to make this recommendation. I have been in the courtroom with Trish Baker over the past 18 years in a wide variety of circumstances. I have seen Trish as a criminal prosecutor and defense attorney – including a jury trial; as a guardian ad litem in a divorce case and in a juvenile case; I’ve prosecuted cases while relying on Trish for the administration of the courts. And in all instances I found Trish Baker to be a prepared, thoughtful and organized participant.
Trish has had thousands of cases with court appearances, dozens of jury trials and is an experienced mediator. Trish is proficient in the rules of evidence, skilled at legal research, articulate in her oral delivery and a practiced author of legal documents. And I know this from first hand experience.
I devoted 15 years of my legal career to Portage County. While circumstances caused me to now work in Waupaca County, I still care deeply about the integrity of the Portage County justice system. I believe that the skill and experience that Trish Baker will bring to the position of Judge will enhance the already fine reputation of our courts.
