Frank “Butch” Meshak, 80 passed away at home while under the care of Hospice on May 28, 2016, “screaming and yelling, here I come ready or not!”
Frank was born on January 20, 1936, the son of Frank and Johanna (Kranski) Meshak Sr. “The little angel went to grade school at Saint Stanislaus and was taught by heavenly nuns.”
He graduated from P.J. Jacobs in 1953. Frank was employed by Filtz and Kalps Grocery Stores. In 1956 Frank joined the U.S. Marine Corp as a part of the Badger Platoon. After boot camp at San Diego, Frank was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division and stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He spent his time in the Marine Corp as a cook and a baker. After being honorably discharged from Camp Le June he returned to Stevens Point.
Frank employed by Jurgella Food Store then went to work for the Copps Corporation where he retired after 40 years of service. Throughout the years, countless enjoyed and raved about Frank’s wonderful cooking and canning.
Since retirement Frank enjoyed writing letters to many special family members and friends. He has written hundreds of beautifully penned and humorous letters over the years, cherished by those lucky enough to receive them. Frank also enjoyed visiting the casino’s, spending time with his close family, canning vegetables, catching and relocating the squirrel’s that happened upon his yard and watching his beloved Cub’s baseball games. He also loved spending time on his back deck enjoying nature and visiting with family and friends.
Frank was married to Sally Wierzba on October 29, 1960. This past October they celebrated 55 years together, “It seemed like 80 for Sally”. Frank is further survived by daughters Cheryl (Chris) Filtz and their children Cecily (Joe Mileski) Filtz and Caitlyn Filtz, Marcia Meshak and son’s Mark (Julie) Meshak and their children Steven and Sarah Meshak and Paul (Rita) Meshak and their children Daniel, Rachel, Paul, Ben and Noah Meshak. Two great-grandchildren: Mollie and Elliot.
Frank is further survived by brother Joe (Germaine) Meshak and sister Shirley (Robert) Strike; sisters-in-law Lois Meshak and Mary Jane Meshak. Brother and sisters-in-law: Sophie Wierzba, Thomas (Mary) Wierzba, Ronald Wierzba, Rita (John) Goskowicz, Rose (Brian) Hamilton, Helen (Al) Hintz, Frank (Althea) Wierzba, John (Linda) Wierzba, Lenae (Norb) Wierzba-Sankey, Anna (Dennis) Mlodik, Gary (Lori) Wierzba.
Frank also leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with many close friends he considered family.
Frank was preceded in death by; daughter, Marie Meshak; brothers John, Ralph, Leonard and Sisters, Marge and Rita Meshak; sisters-in-law, Doris Meshak and Sandy Wierzba and brothers-in-law Andrew and David Wierzba.
A memorial service for Frank will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday June 2, 2016 at the Shuda Funeral Home in Stevens Point. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.shudafuneral.com
