Monday, June 13. Moore Barn Memorial Field in Downtown Buena Vista.
GAME ONE: Airport Bar (5-0) 15 Sloppy Swats (3-2) 3.
GAME TWO: I’D Hit That (2-2) 17 Shoe Crew (1-4) 11.
It was the 13th of June, and all through the night. Game One was a blowout, and Game Two was a fight.
The Swats scored first, a single by Volm. When a base hit by Mixa sent Evan Volm home.
In the top of two, Airport scored a slew. Ten runs they got as their runners all flew.
Eleven hits led the way as Airport Bar had come to play. A triple by Lee, a single by Abby,
and nine more hits, none of them shabby.
The rout was on, Marthaler stroked a double. Every time he batted, the Swats were in trouble.
Rottier had four hits, and Holderman had three. And Mader doubled as all would see.
A double by Garrett brought Schmitz to the plate, He scored standing up as the throw was too late.
Then Kyle hit it a mile as he broke into a smile.
Ten hits by the Swats was all they could muster. They just couldn’t score their runs in a cluster.
It was Airport who slammed the door. They hit like crazy and had twenty-four.
We had to try just this one time. It isn’t easy to make stuff rhyme. Thirty-four hits were finally booked,
runners were on base every time you looked.
Airport scored often, they were off to the races. They scored at will, and had happy faces.
The Swats went down, it’s easy to say. But don’t forget, there’s another day!
AIRPORT STATS: Adam Lee: triple, single. Abby Rottier: four singles. Tyler Mader: double, single.
Meg Lee: single, two walks. James Marthaler: three doubles, single. Stephanie Jackson: double, walk.

The next game’s runs numbered twenty eight. That’s a lot of players to cross the plate
The Crew had eleven, that’s not too bad. But I’d Hit That was scoring like mad.
In inning two, Spencer Bell went yard. The game’s only homer was on the card.
Now this is no jive, but I’d Hit That scored five. The bats of Morgan and Ashley had come alive.
Jake did walk, and Rissa did too. Then Resch singled cuz he was due.
A bunch of singles got the winners five more, It was Oppor’s single that opened the door.
Tammy and Amber had back-to-back hits, and I’d Hit That’s infield was having fits.
Umpire Higgins was behind the plate, If anyone whined, he gave them the gate.
A few close calls, but nothing bad. None of the players went away mad.
Sam Stuard was great, played the game like a pro. One thing about her, she sure aint slow.
With twenty-two hits, I’d Hit That did shine. And most of their batters really did fine.
Seventeen for the Crew, they hit the ball, too. And Amber Hintz came up with two.
Bell came to the plate with a lot of hope. He really swung hard and hit a rope.
When the dust had settled, and the battle was over. The winners ran in, all except their rover.
Danielle Hoover was late getting in, she really enjoyed her team’s big win.
She jumped up and down, and yelled with glee: “Hooray for us … we’re number three!!”
