Metro fire crews were called to a structure fire at the Guzman Case Corp. building on the 3500 block of Patch St. late Wednesday night.
Capt. Jodi Baganz from the Stevens Point Fire Department said three of the four business suites in the building were affected smoke and some fire damage. An employee of Hydro-Effects LLC, a pharmaceutical company located in Suite C, called 911 when she saw smoke coming into the office shortly before 9 PM.
“They had fire coming out from a door in the back of the building; we were able to pop the back door and put the fire out,” Baganz said, adding there was some damage to the building but calling it “minimal”.
“The fire originated from the back of the [Guzman Case] warehouse,” he said, adding the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Stevens Point police were on the scene to redirect traffic.
Stevens Point, Plover and Hull fire crews all responded to the scene, which was cleared shortly before 11 PM. Baganz said there were no injuries.
