Plover Police Chief Dan Ault (right) and Capt. Gary Widder posed for a photo Tues. afternoon before leaving Central Wisconsin on a 24-hour road trip.
The two left Plover around 4 AM on Wednesday, bound for a memorial serve in Dallas honoring the five police officers who were murdered during a protest last week.
Officers from Stevens Point and Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office joined Plover officers in wearing black bands across their badges, a sign of official mourning and respect for fallen officers, but were unable to make the trip.
“It’s the least we can do, to show support to fellow police officers and their families from Central Wisconsin,” Ault said. “We’re expecting it to be a pretty emotional experience.”
Ault said he and Widder were expected back in Plover sometime on Friday morning.
