Plover Fire Chief Mark Deaver stands behind the first, second and third place “trophies” created for the 2016 Water Fights scheduled July 30 at Lake Pacawa Park.
The water fights take place between local fire departments beginning at 1 PM on Saturday during the fifth annual Celebrate Plover.
“All departments are welcome to participate, they can just show up a register on site,” Deaver said, adding about a dozen local fire departments have already registered but there’s “always room for more”.
The event is expected to draw thousands, and Deaver said the water fights are among the most popular attraction outside of the fireworks, held at dusk.
Water fights will kick off immediately following a veteran’s tribute on the grounds of the park.
“Just follow the crowd,” Deaver said.
