A Mass of Christian Burial for John will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday September 24, 2016 at St. Stephens Catholic Church. Rev. Jerzy Rebacz will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation for John will be held on Friday evening from 4:00-7:00 PM at Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second St., Stevens Point, and from 8:30 AM until the time of services Saturday morning at the Church.

John was born February 16, 1926 in Plover, Wis., the son of Michael and Victoria (Widomski) Worzalla. He was a Staff Sergeant with the 94th Division, United States Army. John was a WWII veteran earning the Victory Medal, European African Middle Easter Theater Ribbon Medal, 2 overseas service bars, Army of Occupation Medal, Germany and Czech Republic, Good Conduct Medal, and Bronze Star Medal.
After his honorable discharge John returned home and attended Fond Du Lac College. He married Irene C. Lake on July 3, 1948 at St. Peters Church. The couple settled in Stevens Point and John worked at Consolidated Papers, Inc .until his retirement in 1988.
John was an avid Cubs fan and golfer. During his golfing years John accomplished the rare “Hole in One” feat. He also enjoyed hunting. He was active in the community with Boys Scouts receiving the Silver Beaver award, the Plover American Legion being one of the founding members of the Plover American Legion baseball team, and church.
John is survived by his two sons; Mark (Barb) Worzalla, Hatley, Wis. and David (Barb) Plover, Wis. Five grandchildren: Christopher (Brenda) Worzalla, Sara (Luis) Ortiz, Jessica, Megan, and Wendy Worzalla. Three great grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Natalie, and Alex Worzalla. His sister, Ann Eichendorf, two sisters-in-law: Hattie Worzella and Betty Glodowski, and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Irene, 14 brothers and sisters, daughter-in-law Sharon Worzalla, and granddaughter Angela Worzalla and one granddaughter in law: Tammy Worzalla.
The family would like to thank the Portage County Health Care Center and Ministry Home Care Hospice Services for all the wonderful care you gave John during these last months. We will be forever grateful.
