Pacelli Cardinals put up a valiant fight for Friday’s Homecoming match-up, but it was not enough to stop the Bonduel Bears on one of the coldest nights yet this season at Goerke Field.
Bonduel scores first with 7:49 left in the first quarter. The Cardinals played some tough defense and held the Bears to only one TD in the first quarter.
The next quarter was taken over by the Bears offense, scoring three more touchdowns. Pacelli couldn’t get its rushing game going in the first half, and the loss of leading rusher Zander Schmitz to injury certainly didn’t help. The first half ended with Bonduel up 28-0.
The Cards improved slightly after the halftime break, which they to adjust their game plan. They answered back to another Bonduel touchdown with one of their own in the third quarter when QB Daniel Mitch connected with one of the players of the game, Ethan Jansch.
The extra point by Daniel Mitch was good, leaving the score at Bonduel 35, Pacelli 7 in the third.
The game ended with one more Bears TD. Game ends loss for Pacelli, 7-35.
Andy Tepp also named player of the game.
“I’m extremely proud if these kids,” Coach Drew Nelson said. “They come out every week and give it their best and that’s all I could ask for”.
The Cardinals play their final game Friday, Oct. 14 in Shiocton at 7 PM.
