City officials have scheduled a public informational meeting to discuss the upcoming reconstruction project for Prentice St. on Wed., Feb. 15.
The roadway will be completely rebuilt between Maria Dr. to College Ave. beginning in the spring. Similar to other reconstructive projects on Ellis St. and Sixth Ave., crews will replace underground utilities and rebuild the roadway, which runs parallel to Division St. on the west side of the YMCA.
New curb, gutter and sidewalks will also be built.
Former Director of Public Works Scott Schatschneider, who was overseeing the project until he resigned in Jan., referred to Prentice St. as “one of the worst” roadways in the city, and he estimates it was last resurfaced sometime in the 1960s.
“But the [underground] utilities are pushing the 90-year mark,” Schatschneider said.
The road will be closed off to thru traffic during the project, which is expected to being in May and end sometime in October.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 PM on Feb. 15 in the cafeteria of Pacelli High School, 1301 Maria Drive.
