Ellis Construction this week announced a succession plan and new shareholders.
The move, according to a news release from Ellis, will “solidify leadership of the company for many years to come”.
After more than 45 years as an executive and co-owner, Jim Anderson will transition to the role of Chairman of the Board of Ellis Construction, transferring percentages of ownership in the company to several new shareholders.
As part of the transition, Erik C. Carlson will assume the role of President of Ellis Construction, continuing an 85-year history of Carlson Family involvement in the leadership of Ellis.
Several new shareholders were also announced, including Andrew J. Halverson, Patrick H. Pierce, Timothy D. Kreft, Brandon J. Kohls and Stephen D. Chizzo, along with Carlson and Anderson.
Halverson will serve as executive vice president, Pierce will become director of project management, Kreft will serve as general superintendent, Kohls will serve as director of estimating, and Chizzo will take on the role of director of architectural services.
“This transition is one we can all be proud of,” said Jim Anderson, Chairman of Ellis Construction. “It continues so many great traditions of craftsmanship and client commitment, while solidifying the future of this great company with a variety of core skillsets.”
Anderson’s father, along with Helge Carlson, started the company during the height of the Great Depression. Anderson noted it was “hard work and dedication” at the core of the company’s success.
“It is excellent to see that all of those traits are alive and well in the new generation of ownership we announce today,” he added.
“It is a true honor for me to carry on the legacy of my family and that of my father and grandfather of service to our customers and to those who place their trust in Ellis,” said Erik Carlson, President of Ellis Construction. “Leaving landmarks of pride through the buildings we have built across Central and Northern Wisconsin, is a hallmark of Ellis that will now continue well into the future with our strong new team at the helm.”
Ellis Construction provides construction management, general contracting, design assist and design-build services; in the healthcare, manufacturing, educational and general commercial industries. The 85-year-old company has headquarters on Stanley St. in Stevens Point.
