To the Editor,
I would like to urge the residents of District 3 to vote for Cindy Nebel for Alderperson.
I have known Cindy since 1980 when we moved into my husband’s family home. Since that time our neighborhood has slowly changed as the residents have aged and houses have changed hands. As you can imagine, not all people saw the changes as positive and many neighbors complained about what they saw as the demise of the neighborhood they once knew.
During this process, Cindy always had an eye on what was good for the neighborhood and not just a few neighbors. Many of the residents have sought her advice over the years on problems they have encountered and Cindy has always found the answers to their questions. In many cases it came down to just understanding what the ordinances are and how they are enforced.
One of the biggest differences Cindy has made is her continuing relationship with UWSP officials. She stays on top of university issues that could impact the residents of the area surrounding the campus. It gives the officials a point of view they may not have considered.
Eventually, Cindy’s work in the neighborhood led to the formation of the Old Main Neighborhood Association so everyone from student renters to resident homeowners could work together on neighborhood improvements and projects. Originally it was limited to residents of District 3 but has since expanded.
There are have been many positive outcomes since OMNA has formed such as the garden area at the former Emerson School site and the block parties welcoming the students living in our area back to school.
I support Cindy Nebel’s as Alderperson of District 3 because I have seen first hand how much she cares, how hard she works and how devoted she is. After experiencing how hard she works for our neighborhood, I’m excited to see the work she will do for an entire city!
