Judges in Portage Co. have appointed a replacement for Clerk of Courts Trish Baker.
Lisa Roth, who currently works in the Clerk of Courts Office, will be sworn in as the new Portage Co. Clerk of Courts on Friday. Roth will serve the remainder of Baker’s term through December of 2018.
Baker resigned in January to take a job practicing law with a private firm.
Roth was selected from a pool of more than 30 applicants, but according to Senior Judge Thomas Flugaur, was a unanimous choice.
“Lisa has worked in virtually every position in that office and is well prepared to be the leader of it,” Flugaur said. “She has the complete confidence of the judges”.
Roth has almost 28 years of experience working in the Portage Co. legal system.
“I am ready to step up and support them when opportunities arise to enhance and strengthen their expertise,” Roth said. “I am passionate about this area of government and feel fortunate to lead a dedicated and tenured staff.”
Roth is a SPASH and MSTC graduate, and is certified by UW-Madison as a Child Custody and Placement Mediator. She is currently obtaining accreditation with the Wisconsin Clerk of Circuit Court Association Court Executive Development through UW-Green Bay.
Roth is married and has two grown children.
Roth will be sworn in by Flugaur on Friday, March 10 at 3 PM.
