The Hoover Rail Grade Separation Project is expected to kickoff on Monday.
Commonly known simply as “the overpass”, the grade separation project has been bouncing around city offices for more than a decade. It became an official focus for city government in April 2015, when former Mayor Andrew Halverson announced that money earmarked for the Bus. 51 remodel would be rerouted to fund a new overpass project on Country Club Dr./Hoover Road.
The overpass project was later approved by the City Council as a solution for long delays at the heavily-used Canadian National Railroad crossing, which frequently causes long lines for motorists, and often forces emergency vehicles to use alternate routes.
Interim Public Works Director Joel Lemke said he expects surveyors and staking to be on site March 20, weather depending, at which time crews will close the road to through traffic.
Detour signs will be posted.
