“It all started in 1857 when Michael von Koziczkowski left Poland and arrived in Portage County to start a new life for his family,” a news release from PHA reads in part. “From these small beginnings, Portage County has evolved into ‘Wisconsin’s Little Poland’ due to the many follow on Polish settlers.”
