Fourth Ave. will close at the Prentice St. intersection beginning on Aug. 22.
The closure is part of the Prentice St. rebuild between Maria and Centerpoint drives, which was announced last fall. It’s a necessary move to not only rebuild the roadway surface, but also to replace the underground utilities.
City officials estimate the road had last been resurfaced in the 1960s.
The intersection will close on Tuesday for about two weeks, weather pending, and should reopen on Sept. 1. A detour route will be marked.
