STEVENS POINT — Java lovers will no longer have to worry about getting ticketed for parking outside of Zest Bakery on Isadore St., pending council approval next week.
Members of the Public Works Committee sent through an approval to council on Monday to lift a restriction along the east side of Isadore St., just north of Fourth Ave. This ordinance essentially re-establishes 15-minute parking along the east side of Isadore, right outside of Zest Bakery without fear of being ticketed.
The goal for the ordinance is to eliminate any confusion on the matter while discouraging long-term parking at the same time.
“When the new kiosks came in, people were running in to get a cup a coffee, and finding a ticket on their car,” said Alder Tori Jennings. “This is making some customers angry, and also putting Zest at a significant disadvantage compared to businesses on Division that might have a drive-thru or free parking.”
The proposal passed unanimously, and as always, will seek final approval through council on Monday.
