For the City Times
STEVENS POINT — Lynn Schulist has announced her candidacy for Alderperson of District 8 for the City of Stevens Point.
According to a press release, Schulist decided to run for office because she deeply cares about the community and has a strong desire to serve the people and represent their best interests. As a newcomer to politics, she brings a fresh perspective and new lens that can make an impact on the City Council.
“I pledge to bring sound judgement, business experience and a strong dedication to effectively and accurately represent constituents of the 8th District along with City of Stevens Point residents.”
Lynn is a 5th generation central Wisconsin resident. She holds a B.A. from UWSP, an MBA from the University of Liverpool and was a graduate of Rosholt High School. She grew up on Wadley Lake in the Town of Bevent and lived in Stevens Point while attending UWSP and boomeranged back 3 years ago to raise her son and enjoy all that Stevens Point has to offer. She’s had a career in the private sector for the past 15 years with a wide range of experience ranging from management, Brand/Marketing Strategy and Consumer Research. She has managed multi-million dollar budgets throughout her career and is well versed in financial matters. She is currently a Principal Brand Strategy Manager.
“I am committed to sustained long-term growth and development, prosperity, fiscal responsibility and efficiency in government. Secondly, I am committed to partnering with City Department Heads and employees to collaboratively find viable solutions to real problems residents face in which the city has control and influence over.”
While her son was attending school in the Rosholt School District her commitment to community and service shined as she was on the Board of Rosholt Youth Baseball, Rosholt Youth Football and was appointed by the District Superintendent to the ‘Weight Room Steering Committee’ to expand and bring access to the school weight room facilities to district community members.
She is looking forward to getting to know the residents of District 8 and the greater City of Stevens Point during her campaign trail and actively listening to their needs.
