STEVENS POINT — The Stevens Point Area YMCA recently held its Annual Recognition Luncheon with invited guests and honorees to celebrate the success of the 2017 Annual Campaign. Every dollar raised through the Annual Campaign provides financial assistance to children, adults and families who desire to lead healthier, happier lives through the YMCA. In 2017, 4,192 individuals received over $400,000 in financial assistance.
Annual Campaign contributors were acknowledged and thanked as well as 14 Pacesetters whose contributions make up 58% of the campaign’s goal. Special Recognition was also given to the following for their outstanding contributions and service to the Stevens Point Area YMCA:
- Gerald M. O’Brien Leadership Award: Erik Carlson
- Copps Family Philanthropic Award: Anonymous
- Wisconsin State Alliance Leadership Award: Ben Martinsen
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Dr. Dwight Stevens
An etched brick for the YMCA Heritage Club Memorial Garden was also dedicated in memory of Mary G. Miller, who with her late husband David, established the YMCA Annual Campaign Trust Fund in 2004.
Dave Morgan, YMCA CEO, was thanked by the YMCA Board of Directors for his 13 years of dedicated service to the Stevens Point Area YMCA. Dave has accepted a position as the CEO of the YMCA in Kalamazoo, Michigan. His last day is February 16.
The Y serves more than 7,000 members and nearly 5,000 additional program participants. Approximately 1 out of 4 residents in the community participate at the Y. The Y provides financial assistance so that anyone who desires to participant can afford to. Through the annual campaign, and the support of so many in the community the Y will continue to be a place where children can grow, adults can flourish and families can thrive.
