STEVENS POINT — Travel in Portage County is not recommended today, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.
Main and secondary roads have been deemed impassable due to drifting and blowing snow. While highway crews are working to clear the roadways, they are unable to keep up with changing weather conditions.
Nearly 16 inches of total snowfall as accumulated between the Stevens Point and Plover areas since Friday night. Weather and travel conditions are not expected to improve through the night.
Non-emergency travel is highly discouraged by department officials, and response times may be delayed. Stay safe out there.
