The Stevens Point City Times invites you to submit your business or nonprofit news for publication. Submissions are welcome anytime for free publication online, but deadline for print is every Wednesday at noon.
Please email all submissions to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Newsworthy topics include: new business launches or partnerships; new employees/promotions/accreditations; business relocation/additions/groundbreaking; community partnerships/donations/public service by company or employee groups; unique occurrences/events at your place of business; public projects, etc.
All submissions must be accompanied with at least one clear, horizontal photo 692×360 px so it can be published to our website. Additional photos may vary in size and orientation. All photos should be unedited in any way and not cropped.
A caption, also called a “cutline”, should accompany your photo and identify who or what is in the photo.
Your news release should answer the five “W’s”: who, what, when, where and why as it relates to your news event.
Your press release should contain the name and daytime phone number of a contact person for any follow-up questions, as well as the full name of your company/organization, its physical address and phone number/website information.
Your press release should NOT be written in ALL CAPS, but in normal sentence structure.
You can send your release within the body of an email, or as a Word or Google Doc attachment, but photos must be sent as an attachment, not within the body of the press release.
A few tips for a successful news release:
- Stick to the facts. Don’t be overly descriptive and don’t include your opinion.
- Be complete. Thorough information is the best way to get your story out. Too much information is better than not including enough.
- Don’t forget the photo. Submissions without an accompanying photo will not be published to the website, and may not be considered for our print edition, which has limited space available.
- Don’t procrastinate. Many submissions are published to our website within a matter of an hour or two, but sometimes our news staff becomes very busy with local news. If your news is timely/urgent, please indicate so in the subject line of your email.
